013 Italy - Rome - Ostia Antica

Domus della Fortuna Annonaria (c. 150 AD)
House of the Statue of the Goddess of Good Grain-Supply

For many, this is the most memorable home in Ostia Antica. The building has a long construction history. The well in the courtyard was sunk in the late first century BC. Most rooms were built c. 150 AD. There was a remodelling on a large scale during the first quarter of the fourth century. In room 15 (shown) the triple arcade, the nymphaeum, the apse, and the marble decoration were added. The Fortuna Annonaria statue is on the left.
